Our Programs
EduKEY: Adult Education and College Resources
Every student doesn't get to cross the stage with their peers in high school. There are so many reasons why this happens; but the why isn’t as important as the desire to succeed. Our students understand how limited they may be without a high school diploma; and have made the decision to get it done.
RWC offers a second chance for those who couldn’t quite make the mark. It doesn’t matter if you are 17 or 47, our sessions help them to earn their GED or high school equivalency diploma. Based on a placement test, we offer help in five test subject areas: Language Arts/Reading, Language Arts/Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students also learn test-taking tips and strategies.
Nearly half of American adults don’t have the adequate skills in math, reading, and writing needed to be successful in postsecondary education. This is a roadblock to college or some trade schools which results in an inability to secure stable employment. It is discouraging to many young adults and leads them down a path of helplessness and undesirable options.
The Read Write Centers steps in to help students reach their personal and professional goals by boosting their reading, writing, and math skills. Whatever their desire is, a high school equivalency diploma, higher education, or job promotion, we help students define their goals and then offer the necessary learning opportunities.
We understand that our students enter the program with a wide variety of skills and life experiences. RWC meets our students at their current status. We build lessons and programs to meet each student’s unique needs. Encouragement and a positive environment are keys to helping students gain both the skills and the confidence needed to make their goals a reality. At RWC, our students become our family and we treat them as such.

Step into your future with RWC
Up from Here: Career and College Resources
The Read Write Center (RWC) is here to help adults of various ages find resources for college, job training and more. We are here to help our students transition smoothly to the next level. In an effort to do so, we built strong partnerships with area companies, colleges and trade schools. Students are assigned a college/career mentor who assesses their skills and desires. This enables the mentors to guide them into best career paths and college majors.
Students work with a college/career mentor who helps them explore career opportunities and identify next steps. We assist college bound students with arranging college tours, applying for postsecondary education, and identifying options for financial aid. Others who are seeking the immediate career path have access to resume enhancements, online job completions, resume building and interview preparation.

The Remix: Re-Entry
We work with men and women who have been incarcerated. This is definitely an underserved market within society, but RWC believes in giving people a second and third chance, if necessary. We provide our participants with tools and resources to get them back on their feet and transitioned into society. We are here to help with GED testing, college entrance, apprenticeships and job security.
We have established relationships with community businesses that are willing to hire people with colorful backgrounds. Our partners believe in extending opportunities to a segment of people that society often excludes. We are proud of our ex-felons who have stayed the course and continued to push forward to their success.

Young African Americans Making A Difference(YAAMAD)
YAAMAD is a group of young adults who volunteer in and around the communities. They volunteer at local events as hosts, set up and clean up crew, servers and more. YAAMAD can be found picking up trash on a neighborhood street; painting houses or delivering groceries to the less fortunate. This program was designed to expose students to various ways to be impactful. They are taught that it is not enough to simply live in this world, but you must also make a difference. YAAMAD members are 14-19 years of age.
Level Up: Workforce Development
Nothing boosts the morale of your workforce more than genuine care for your employees’ well being. Things are constantly changing and it is imperative that companies keep their employees top of mind. Their bottom line is depending on it. Technology is rapidly changing how business is conducted and requires the workforce to quickly adapt. RWC offers classes to groups and collectives to improve their job-related skills. Ongoing workforce development is the key to a productive business and stable economy.
We offer customized programs for employers to raise the skill level of their employees in the areas of technology, math, English and reading. RWC has also developed courses that focus on workplace communication skills and cultural awareness. We work closely with team leadership to develop specific material with employer and employee goals in mind. Courses are offered at our offices or on-site in a small group setting.
